Aviation Ray Traces and Animations
Boeing B-17-F
All images (c) 1997, 2001 North East Systems
Revised 11-May-2001
Our new B-17 model - 2001
Our old B-17 model - 1997
We are currently developing a series of 3-D ray-trace models of current
and historic aircraft.
These are rendered in POV-Ray, with markings created in Photoshop.
These models allow creating scenes and animations which would be impossible
to reproduce in real life, since many of these planes are now quite rare.
Our first model is a B-17, designed with modular components which allow
creation of several different versions, and of individual markings.
The version shown here is a B-17-F, the first model to see large volume production.
A B-17-G is also planned, and several sets of markings will be created.
The markings of "Bad Penny" shown here are composite,
as the serial number and Triangle-C markings properly belong to "KNOCK-OUT DROPPER".
This model was developed over a period of time,
and some of the renderings presented here are of earlier versions of the model.
We have contributed an image to the web site of
the Memphis Belle Memorial Association.

The animations (anim-GIFs) take some time to load, but they're moderately cool.
It's built like any other model...
Paint parts before assembly, and apply glue sparingly...
